Steven, The 'Sportman' was introduced in 1961 per an Earls Court Industry Show article in 'Cycling' of the same year. The only bicycle I have ever seen the Sportman OEM on was some mid/lower level Bianchi's....

I have a few Campagnolo oddities in display cases including most of the derailleurs from the 50's to the end of NR/SR. I was the underbidder on the auction in question and have seen this model derailleur in person as well...I think it belonged to Seth Finkelstein (?) Anyway, this along with the 'Sportman' and 'Tursimo' derailleurs never made it into the catalogs...

Speaking of rather uncommon gears, can anybody tell me more about the Campagnolo Sportsman gear? I have one that I believe is not working properly and would like to determine whetehr this is true or not. I would also like to know from what period it dates from.
