"IT was a dark and gloomy day" I went up with my brother Ben Sanford; we did not take any bikes cause of lack of space. The day dawned dark and ominous, as we drove thru intermittent rain showers in the early morn; arriving at T-town circa 7 am. Fortunately, while it was still rather cool for a while, it did not rain after that. The sun even came out later.

The dealers were already setting up (pink armbands). They let us sellers (green armbands) in at 7:30. Other list members we saw (that I can remember) included Angel Garcia, Roy Drinkwater, Steve Maasland, and Jim and Carol Williams. There were others.

The hoards were released at 9 and the event concluded at 2 but by then the numbers of attendees had thinned muchly. Set up was around the track with sellers in the somewhat soggy infield (as I said it had been raining) so the buyers could walk around on the pavement. This seemed to work quite well. The attendance was respectable; probably down a bit cause of the early morning weather. It was judged to be somewhat less than the fall swap-meet. BTW, the Fall 2003 Swap-meet will be on 4 October.

There was not too much vintage stuff for sale. One list member brought a Major Taylor to show off and Steve Maasland had some nice toys included a sort of manual rear derailleur shifting gizmo. A rather nice circa 1975 Paramount road bike (without fork) was scored for $175. I lusted after a Paramount track frame of the same era bit it was a tad small. I think it went for about $675 (frame and wheels only).

I was looking for a usable Campy 32 hole high-flange front hub (track preferably but road acceptable) but did not see one. My only purchase was a nice 1999 Bicycle Calendar with photos of many nice and varied pre 1960 or so bikes. (this Calendar will work appropriately in 2005). Cost $2

Managed to unload a fair amount of junk in addition to a nice set of Campy track pedals at $60 and a set of non-period clincher 8-speed wheels for $100. So I did well. Ben sold quite a bit of stuff but had a bit of a relapse and felt forced to buy stuff as well. Still he felt he had done well.

There seemed more interest in track stuff than at most meets (probably cause of the venue)

Bout all I can remember.

Ken Sanford Kensington, MD (where I am leading a fixed gear bike ride later this morning)

I was indundated with familial responsibilities once again and couldn't make it up to the Trexlertown swap meet. How did the attending CR members fare?
