Bought a bike decaled as a Bridgestone yesterday, will be a nice little town bike. I did not recognize the brakes, which were labeled as Bridgestone. sidepulls, with some unusual features. Nice cam-over QR, ho-hum. Neat stuff: seems that the brake mechanism is no where attached to the main bolt, which pivots freely. Have to use a 5 mm at each end to tighten on the frame. Spring wraps around an adjustment assembly which seems to be used to set the angle position. Other feature: the two arms are linked by a sheet steel piece that clearly attaches to one, but I haven't taken it apart.

I'm less familiar with (but have great respect for) the Japanese vintage equipment, and wonder if anyone has his bell rung by this description. Can send pix to experts (that means ya'll).

thanks
