Sam,

I doubt that gun blueing is a good approach. I can tell what WILL work, though. Sand and clean the frame real well and wipe with lacquer thinner. Then take it to your local powder coater and have them clear powder coat it. As long as they don't handle it before painting and it gets done right away, it will probably last indeffinitely.
