Subject: [CR]Slightly Longer Notice DC Area Classic Ride

Seems Ben just beat me to the punch on getting a local ride organized. Marty Walsh and I were just discussing this last night. We were contemplating our options and had just settled on a plan that I was going to announce today. I'll be out of town this weekend, so I won't be able to join Ben and others, but will still go with the plan for another ride as well. Hey, the more rides, the better. Maybe we can even get this going on a regular basis. So, it's hereby announced:

Pre Cirque Classic Tune-Up Ride and Tea Party Saturday, April 26th - 10:00 AM My House - Falls Church, VA

Here's a chance to do a "shake-down" run on that vintage ride you've just slapped together for the Cirque (oh wait, that's me - several actually). Everyone is welcome, and welcome to ride whatever, but "Cirque-bound" bikes are strongly recommended. We'll gather at my house in West Falls Church, and do an easy 25-or-so miler. The W&OD bike trail is literally at the end of my street (and about 3 miles East of Vienna where Ben's ride will start). We will most likely use the bike trail for about 6 miles, and then depart for a loop of the gently rolling back roads of Reston, ultimately returning to my house via the same bike trail. There will be a post ride gathering on the deck, where the Tea Party will take place. Other libations (besides tea) and snacks will also be available. A tour of the basement shop/bike gallery is sure to be in the offing as well, and I might even be able to come up with a few "door prizes". The criteria for this still eludes me, so we'll just have to see what happens.

My house is in West Falls Church, just inside the intersection of the Beltway and Rt. 66. Contact me off list for specific directions. Please let me know if you plan to attend, so I can prepare accordingly. Listees Marty Walsh and Harvey Sachs have offered to help out, and their co-sponsorship is appreciated. Come on out. Those left-coast guys and gals can't be the only fun loving (and organizational motivated) CR types. Let's show them the East side spirit in preparation for the REAL East coast extravaganza the following weekend.

Ciao -
