Hello All Brandon Davis asked what the hole was for at the headtube. It was common on early British bikes to have a head lock. In this case BSA used a band around the steerer tube that was tightened by a small wheel via this hole. When tightened it stopped the bike falling over when lent against a wall or post. We've all had it happen, you leave your bike and while you watch and as if by magic the handle bars turn and Crash!!!! Cheers Pete Paine Watford
