Sometime List member Bob Sutcliffe and I got there fairly early and covered the whole place in an hour or hour and a half. Somewhat smaller this year. 98% balloon tire stuff, but still some interesting things. There were some great very early bikes there and a fun display of Low Riders. Many cool looking Whizzer motor bikes. Bob managed to score a brown lizard skin Regal saddle, some cables and a few rims. I found a table out in the gravel area with some nice Brooks saddles. I negotiated my way into a New Brooks Team Pro that was packaged with the most beautiful B-17 I have ever seen. There it was all broken and beautifully patinated with a Carradice cover, to boot! I couldn't resist, even though I didn't really need any of it...compulsion rears its' ugly head again!
Right about then Bob came riding up on a Lotus Aero with a full Shimano AX gruppo. I had never seen some of these AX parts before. Bob declined the bike at $200 but is planning on going back with an offer if it doesn't sell. There was a Japanese gentleman from Ann Arbor there with boxes of derailleur parts, many Gran Sport derailleurs and other old Campy parts. I didn't need any of it, but the guy was so enjoyable to talk to that Bob nearly had to drag me away for breakfast at a nearby restaurant.
Not really a place for the vintage lightweight fans, but still interesting...glad I went.
