Subject: [CR]ROAD TRIPS!..'40 FOOTER COMING OUR WAY!

Hi all:

We are back! While many were getting ready for Dales ''BIG POW WOW! we were in Anglet of Southern France preparing these goodies for transportation. Now why did we have to do our own packing job?? Well lets say for the price we were getting these goods for they were in no way going to do much in the way of packing. About a 3rd of the way through it became cristal clear that that we were looking at more than we were planning on, so off to plan ''B''!.....Stuff the rim boxes!.....................No room and no more time so the Legnano frames and Detto shoes will have to wait for another time........Another big trip in the makings?...............Looks like it!

Anyway, we had a great time hanging out and talking with the Former team Manager and sponser of Ocana, Henri Labadie! Once the Zeus importer of France. So there was lots and lots of old pictures to look and he even pulled out a pictures of him having lunch with Coppi! VERY! VERY! COOL!.............And, he also gave us an old Coppi Poster autographed by Bartali, dated 1952...........Very cool as well!....Kinda beat but it will be getting framed.............He said that Ocana crashed a lot through his career and said there was no problem with his bikes as like thought and mentioned with his forks on his bike with the ''BIG CRASH!'' I asked him about this bike and he said he rode no Ti bikes? His bikes had Lots of Ti parts from the Zeus 2000 components and steel framesets were by Motobecane! So I hope we are not going back to this can of worms. I'm just passing on what Mr Labadie has told me! He looked puzzeled when I mentioned this Ti bike, but then again he's 71 and his memory could have slipped a little. Mr Lababie said they discoverd Ocana when he was 16 and he has been with him through his 2 tour wins. Seems kinda funny that Motobecane didn't get more credit for their effort in supplying these framesets. But I was told by his son Philip that there was great cooperation between Motobecane and Zeus, not only for the team efforts but also for the retail end to produce Zeus bicycles. I guess this explains the reason for the French threaded Zeus framesets......................Of which we have 17 higher end unstickered framesets on the way.........All in All!.............A GREAT ROAD TRIP! Great weather, great food and great companionship! So to say the gang was having a super time...............Oh! I was also given an Ocana supporter yellow t-shirt!...........Too bad it's too small, but if all goes well it will be pulling up it's place a the Ocana table!?!?!?!?!?!?!
