Subject: [CR]Early 70's Pogliaghi help needed

Hello all,

I've come across a Pogliaghi for sale here in town that I'm considering purchasing, although I'd like a bit of help from the group on determining what a fair price for the machine might be. Having looked at the Pogliaghi page on the CR site it looks to me to be an early 70's bike (serial # 9365, the frame details look a lot like Jack Bissell's) but is mostly kitted out with early 80's components, save perhaps the headset and hubs. It unfortunately was updated and repainted in the early 80's by Marinoni and at that time I believe it gained a fair number of braze-ons including: top tube cable guides, shifter bosses, a single set of WB bosses, top of the BB cable guides, and the worst; a set of rack eyelets up on the seatstays and a pair of rack eyelets in the middle of the fork blades. :-( Also the entire rear end was chromed.

Although the current paint is not perfect it's reasonable with early 80's Pog decals mostly intact. It's mostly the incorrect braze-ons that bug me a bit. The bike is up at the upper limit of my size range so it's not screaming to be bought, but one doesn't see too many of these around (at least I don't) even if it has been altered a bit. I'd likely really want to go to the trouble of removing the braze-ons and getting the paint and decals redone if possible, but I suppose that would depend on a few things...

If anyone would like to see some pics of the bike to help in guesstimating what might be a fair price let me know and I'll send you some images. Specify small, medium or large format when replying. :-)

Thanks for any help,
