Indeed it is wood. Who had the chance to see the rear disk that colnago had on display ~ 83 / 84 for their show bikes? It was a marvelous bit of art made of wood with the european continent's countries inlaid in various colors / types of wood. I still have a cheesy 3 X 5 instamatic type photo of that jewel.
