Steven,

I never noticed these differences myelf. One thing I do know about QRs is that there is only one correct orientation for the shaft within the end cap. If you QR isn't working correctly, pull the lever out, rotate the shaft I80 degrees in the cap and run the lever back through. I'm guessing there is a very good chance that you already know this, and that your problem is truly a compatibility issue, but just in case...

This brings to mind a thought I've had many times. This is that the notion of Campy's famous "interchangeability" is somewhat overblown, IMHO. Harvey's experience with the Record ft der parts is a good example. I can think of a lot of other times when some relatively minor change to a part meant that the old spare bits would no longer work. Just the other day I went to put a new dust cap on a C-record hub and it wouldn't fit past the locknut. Turns out that when they changed the locknut design they made the hole in the dustcap bigger too. The early dustcap wouldn't work with the newer locknut. Out came the file!

Personally, I find these instances of Campy not living up to it's myth to be very interesting, and it certainly doesn't diminish my interest in the company or products.
