[CR]NOS Paramount & Pricing

(Example: Framebuilding:Technology)

I think anytime we get into a discussion about price and whether it is too high, we tend to step on toes and offend someone's sense of fairness (usually the seller). I really don't know how much that Paramount is worth. I know how much it would be worth to me, but that is irrelevant since I'm not the person who will buy it. For someone who is looking for that size, that year, that condition, and that finish, well, it might be worth more than what the seller is asking. If less, then we'll never know whether a potential buyer even looked at it because the starting bid is what it is. Matching the seller and the buyer is much harder than just posting on Ebay. I recall the Confente that bid up a couple of years ago to over $8000 and we all had a poll about how high it would go. Never met reserve, but the seller sure got a good list of prospective buyers if he wanted to try to cut a deal off-line. As I recall, someone suggested that the seller wanted to pick his buyer, which makes a lot of sense to me. But, I know of no wider way to market at present than Ebay, so we'll all watch to see whether or not it gets a bid. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL
