Dear CR listees, I feel deep a sadness on hearing about Chris Beyer's death. To me it seemed sudden, to Chris it probably was relief from pain and suffering. I will miss Chris. I asked a few people if they had seen Chris Beyer at Cirque 2003, nobody knew anything. Sometimes I guess ignorance is bliss. Chris was not one to miss bicycle collector types of events-Cirque, Trexlertown,PA., Westminster, MD. One could count on seeing Chris at these events and always making the great find or score. Yes, Chris did have a twinkle in his eye and always seemed very upbeat. Chris was a pleasure to be around. My first contact with Chris came thru the CR list, when he was selling a Kioga-Miyata Professional touring bicycle. The bicycle was already sold.....when I contacted Chris at Volvo-USA. I thought Chris might be related (family) to a large, local Volvo dealer in the Washington DC metro area, called "Don Beyer Volvo".Chris said he was not related, but he joked they may be distant cousins. I like many of the folks on the CR list had some things set aside for Chris.....

Chris was always doing projects and I dare say there are probably only a few other folks on the list who seem to have as many projects going as Chris oftern did. I thought I would see Chris at Cirque and ask him if he was still looking for X for project Y. The first time I met Chris was at CR gathering (vintage ride and get together) at Wayne Bingham's home.Chris had driven down from N.J. Chris had his Atlantis, and it was quite new, and he had his trademark green and black "Chuck Taylor" Converse sneakers. How could you forget the guy! Chris you are going to be missed for your insightful contributions the CR list and the fun person you were to be with.... Anyways, I hope we all get to ride again on that long and winding road in the sky. Yours truly, Martin Walsh in Vienna,Va.
