I say:

Some laptops with DVD players seem to be able to ignore the zoning. For some reason, my SO's Powerbook will play the $1 dollar zone 2 dvd's she bought in China last year. They do not play on standard US DVD players. (bike content, one was the movie "two seconds" which is worth a rental with pervaisive classic italian content as well as DH, messengers, and the mystique of campy marketing)

May be worth a shot if you really want to see em.
