Ann All other variations aside the different angles on the same size seat tube will result in a very different position in regards to the bottom bracket.I am guessing that your seat is allot further back on one bike than the other.I thought it was interesting that the Waterford chose two angles that effectively pointed more toward each other than the Trek and that the steeper of those angles was the seat tube. The top tube on the Waterford must be much shorter. If you do the trigonometry for the two frames you will see the difference in distance behind the BB.On my size frame,a 56cm, there would be a 2cm change. This alone would result in a very different ride and when you take into account the head angles where there is a 0.7degree variance it is not surprising that the 2 bikes would feel different. While the wheelbase of both frames is not that different your position over the top of said wheelbase will be. Of course as your boyfriend has pointed out,as long as you are enjoying riding them both it doesn't really matter. But it is interesting.Hope this helps answer your question and sorry for the overuse of the word different, Geoff.
