Bill, The 70's CB lettering was a block style (no serifs) and from what I can tell from some of their promotional material was applied in several configurations. Earlier models were lettered on a white band on the down tube and seat tube, oddly, the down tube was arranged like Chinese characters top to bottom, and down tube lettering was applied left to right. Some had down tube with crest with colored bands above and below and lettering only on down tube.

The Holdsworthy Company built these frames in later years, and may be a source of additional information relating to Mr. Butler's hand made frames from the 60's.

Send mailing address off list and I will send Claud Butler picture with lettering and you can duplicate. (block style)
