This is simple matter...

1. Take the plastic internal "washers" (fatter than normal washers) out and rough up on the flat side of a rasp or coarse file. Don't over do it, just a slightly "fuzzy" surface will do. (If you have older metal "washers" obviously you cannot do this.)

2. Get a bottoming tap the correct dimension and make sure the thread are clean all the way down in the shifter bosses. (Be careful, as if you over tighten this tap, you can pop off a poorly brazed boss!)

3. Shorten the thumb screw threaded portion. An easy way to do this is to thread a nut on, then use a grinder wheel and remove a couple of mm, clean the end with a very small file and then remove that nut, which will clean the threads...

4. Lather it all up with Genuine Campy grease (ONLY!*) and reassemble... No Slippo.
