I say the same thing I say every six months when this topic is revisited. Date rules shouldn't apply because if so than it's not about a specific style, but of a specific time period. If that is true then we need a much later start date (like 1963) and "keepers of the flame" should be right out. If it's a style thing then efforts to capture the style should be just fine. Personally I think the 1999 Shimano Ultegra and 2000 Campagnolo Chorus should be on-topic since they were a serious effort to recapture the smooth lines and highly polished look of years past.

Speaking as the youngest regular contributor (turned 34 two weeks ago) and part of the next generation of classic bike lovers I'd say the dates that have been set because it represents a particular "special" time for most of the list members. It's the time ('63 to '83) where most of the members either started cycling or took cycling to the next level. I started riding seriously in '77 with my dad and started fixing bikes in '81 out of my parents garage, so it's a special time for me too. I think what needs to be decided is what is the list about a time or a style. enjoy, Brandon"monkeyman"Ives SB, CA
