Subject: [CR]Wood rim finish

There are better wood moisture proectors than varnish. Varnish essentially sits on the wood surface, and once it is rubbed off or peels from age, so goes the protection. A more penetrating type finish is better I think, though not so shiny and cosmetic. How these would affect brakeing and pad rubber? I have some ideas about making wood rims and choice of materials. If anyone plans to do it, feel free to contact me off list.
