Your bottom bracket height will also end up 4mm closer to the ground, possibly more if you are using a narrower tire. (many 27x1 1/4 wheel bikes end up converting to 700x28 or 25c tires, with less sidewall height)

think that you need to be able to lower the pads about 10 mm.
