I thought this subject came up a couple weeks ago. I mentioned that in 1960,
Bud Thorpe, manager of the US Olympic team, purchased one of these Cinellis
with the small wheels, from Chiappini's Bike Shop in Rome. He didn't realize
that the wheels were smaller and when he tried to convert to clinchers, it
never worked. So the bike sat in Oscar Juner's American Cyclery in S.F. foreever.
I don't know what became of it. Suposedly bikes like this were produced for
the Italian road time trial team.
