And, from Tom Adams: I recall that the Cinelli prototypes had special narrow hubs, so a standard wheel wouldn't fit.
I was reading the Aoleus Butterfly compilation (or it an anthology) that I got from Chuck Schmidt and one of the first articles is about Cinelli. I quote from the book (if you want your own copy, email Chuck or check his website): "Cino believes that the optimum size of the wheel is approximately 26 inches (66.7cm) and to prove his theories, he has had special lightweight rims and tubular tires manufactured for his prototypes.........One of Cino's first prototypes was ridden by Ole Ritter in Mexico when he broke the hour record in 1968. The bike had longer crankarms, special Campagnolo hubs (2cm narrower), special Clement tires and Nisi rims....." Based on this description, it sounds like we may be talking about a similar prototype Ebay Cinelli that has been discussed here the last couple of days. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL 32819
