You're correct that it was unusual - but there were a few. for example, a couple of weeks ago I saw an inexpensive early '80s Peugeot that had Shimano derailleurs front and rear - but the hubs were Maillard Helicomatic), the brakes were Weinmann center pulls and the crankset was a Nervar cotterless model. But the way, I'm still looking for examples of those Nervar _cotterless_ cranksets, as long as the rings are in good condition. (And the crank must say Nervar - not just "Made In France").
