One exception on the aluminum rims: Scheeren wood-filled rims (small blocks of wood inside the rim placed at each spoke hole, made from late 30s through the early 70s (I guessing). Weinmann took over production of Scheeren I think. Possibly there were other brands too? Did Freebairn (sp?) in Australia make some or market them? Anyone?
