Subject: [CR]velox and singletube

I have a Velox, same paint job as the one on the CR site. Who owns that one? Mine is equiped with BSA cranks, 1/2 " pitch with a nickel plated Daimond chain, French peddals, single fixed british hub in the back, Persons racing saddle (like Brooks but made in USA). Lobdell all wood singletube rims with modern sewups fitted. I will post pictures soon.

In regards to the recent posting on singletube tires. It mentioned glue and singletubes. I have owned atleast 20 singletube bikes, mostly 28x 1 1/2" , the velox is my only singletube racing bike. None of the singletube bikes that I have ever had, had the tires glued on, except for the Velox, which has traces of glue left on the rim, was glue only used on racing bike tires? My 1939 Isaland Cycle catalog lists Marlett Rim Cement, "For cementing tires to wood and metal rims"

The 1939 Island Cycle catalog lists an imported sewup tire the "Englebert Road Racer" all the other racing tires in the catalog are singletube.Coker only makes the 28 x 1 1/2 size not 1 1/4, and their tires are only for display. So I have modern sewups mounted on the Velox. What are the fattest sewups available today? Del mondos are no longer made, right? I heard that Continental made special tires in limited numbers, is this true?

PS I got an A- on my paper Legende Miti e Realta nel Ciclismo Italiano thanks to everyone who helped.
