[CR]Cinelli Frame Numbers

I know about the Cinelli frame numbering system - there was'nt one! The numbers do not run in any sequence that maps to the years of product.

There is some info that is pertinent to dating a Vintage Cinelli in the registry at http://www.petry.org/markp/lastoria.htm.

Does anybody know anything about the Cinelli frame numbering system. I have been offered a frame which is supposed to be a Cinelli, frame No.2251. This offer was made by phone. The vendor is not a cyclist so not much information forthcoming. No pictures available and the frame is at the other end of the country. If this is a Cinelli number what is the year of production.
