Dave was the real deal.....many decades before most of us started the "Live, love, ride, repair, restore and pursuit of vintage bicycles" phase of life....Dave was there in the 50's following his dream racing and then until not long ago as a Schwinn employee and then shop owner. Dave regularly came to our SoCal rides, cycle swap meets and to many of my semi-impromptu Sunday rides and always added a special dimension to events that only somebody who 'was there' and spent a life steeped in most all facets of cycling could add. He had just e-mailed me that we'd see him this Sunday. Fate now says otherwise.

He will be fondly remembered but sorely missed!
