I was lucky enough to meet Dave in person in Dale's backyard this Spring. I always enjoyed his posts because he was knowledgeable without being high and mighty and he had a good sense of humor about all of this.
Later on, I read the excellent article in Asphalt about Dave's adventures racing in Europe. I always meant to drop him a line and tell him how fascinated I with that story and how lucky he was to be in the middle of all of that at 17, but I figured, well Dave's not going anywhere. I was sure I'd get to see him again in Dale's backyard next May.
Boy, was I wrong.
If Dave had to leave this reality, at least he did it doing what he loved. I can only hope that somewhere, elsewhere, Dave is still pedaling on.
