Subject: [CR]Dave Staub memorial cup

I'm a bit far away, but would be happy to make the base for the memorial cup, if no one closer is up for it. I need to know when you would need it. I have some beautiful walnut.

> Dear Listmembers,
>
> I have recieved emails from both Daves' widow Vicky Staub and Daves'
> brother Don Staub thanking everyone on the list for the kind words and
> memories of Dave Staub. They appreciate them very much. Vicky will be
> printing the photos of Dave that were posted to have at the Celebration
> of Daves' Life on Friday.
>
> The Celebration itself will take place beginning at 12:30pm on Friday,
> July 25. The address is: Womans Club of Orange located at 121 S. Center
> St., Orange, CA. So far I am aware of Bill Curtis, Matt Gorski, and
> myself who will attend. I expect to see lots of my old cycling friends
> from the Orange County/LA area; many of whom I haven't seen for a while.
>
> Although the occassion is a sad one, I'm sure Dave will we pleased that
> we will all come together to remember him and his wonderful life at this
> time.
>
> Again, thank you everyone for the kind words about Dave Staub. There are
> many in life who haven't lived up to the words that some say about them
> in death; but Dave Staub was far beyond the geniuneness and kindness
> that our words have attempted to describe. No exaggeration neccessary.
> Our words are completely true, and yet they still fail to pay proper
> tribute to how real and sincere Dave was. And passionate about life and
> bicycles and so much more.
>
> I have been busy and haven't got back to the people who have offered up
> some pieces for the Memorial cup. I will do that today I hope. The
> concept for the design is solidifying in my mind and I have high hopes
> for the creation and feel confident that it will be a proper tribute to

>
> I would like to know if any woodworking type person would be able to
> make a base for this piece? I envision dark walnut, maybe 4" tall and
> 12" square or so, no smaller though. I imagine a tier or two or maybe
> something slightly Pyramid type base, with some moulding around the

> wherein each person who holds the cup for a year will place a small

> Hope to see a few or you there.
