I was an early adopter of weyless stuff. I had the hubs and seatpost, shortly after they were introduced. I still have the post, and one hub. The head on the post has not come loose yet, but I'm gonna go take a look and see if it's one of the pinned ones. I've seen those, but I think mine may be a first-gen product. I've been using that post ever since I bought it, on one bike or another. I don't like the two-bolt clamp..the bolts are too slender to really do the job right, and they rust badly in the right conditions. Nice product otherwise.
I loved the hubs, but the rear hub was notorious for coming apart on the drive side (the flange would part company with the body)..and, sure enough, that's what happened to mine, many years ago. I raced on it though, and got quite a number of hard miles out of it before it failed...beware of the Weyless rear hubs then! Although, maybe they pinned later iterations of the hubs, too?
Nice stuff, all in all. I wish it was still made. The QRs on the hubs were things of beauty.
Charles Andrews SoCal, where we just finished a warm-ish vintage ride at the Rose Bowl. Nice group, as always, and some nice bikes in attendance...I even met BicycleBob with his Eisentraut... who cleverly snagged the celeste-colored Eisentraut A, that was on ebay recently. I was gonna snipe that thing, but Bob got to the owner in person...which always helps. <grin> No hard feelings Bob. Well, sort-of. Sort-of no hard feelings.. ;>
