That can be tricky, as complete bicycles sometimes differed in spec from what was listed in the catalogs.

In the case of Mercian, I believe they have always (?) been users of Campagnolo equipment, so the '73 Mercian Professional was probably NR. However, that leaves bars; stem; rims; saddle; tape; spokes; cable housing; tires....hmm?? A "woven web of guesses" so, "period correct" is perhaps the best/safest direction.
