I beg to differ....

DO NOT USE A HAIR DRIER ON WET LEATHER!!!!

Unless, of course, you want the cracks that usually occur from uneven drying.

TIP: to speed water absorbsion when you first wet the leather, add a little wetting agent to the water. Clear vinegar works very well but be aware that too much vinegar can turn brass and other cuprous metals green (vertigris).
