I read a book a year or so ago about a lady who cycled the US from Maine to Washington State to California to Florida and back to Maine. I found it interesting that she waxed her chain. She mentioned that she only put new wax on it when she was caught in a big rain storm. She carried a small metal container and warmed it over her campfire, then put the cap on and after it cooled, put it back in her panniers. I recall that she felt that waxing the chain was often her first priority when she stopped for the night. Too much trouble for me. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL
