Greetings bikelings. Bob Freeman returning after an absence from the list.
I have just picked up a 1973 Teledyne Titan and want to build it up "vintage
ultralight". It came with a Brooks Pro and that doesn't quite make it, so I
am on the lookout for some early lightweight saddle, like an Avocet Racing
III or Selle Italia Specialissimo Titanio. Anyone have such a seat they
would be willing to part with?
Other bikes I have picked up in the last year: 1990 Hetchins MOD, 1980
Colnago Super, 1960-ish Claud Butlers road and track, 1974 Jack Taylor Tour
of Britain, and a 1960-ish Ellis-Briggs. And lastly, a 1940-ish
"enameled-by-Jack Taylor" (take a look at this at

and tell me if you recognize the maker. It isn't a Jack Taylor, and I would
like to know who made it. Note the chisel seat stay points, and the
wraparound brake bridge.) The story behind this: Troy Warnick turned me on to
Mark Lawrence, who was living in Stockton-on-Tees at the time, and who is a
personal friend of Norman Taylor. He had the bike, and Norman told him that
they painted bikes for other builders sometimes, but he could not recollect
who built this one. It was badly corroded but the paint shined up quite well
as did all the part that came with it.
