Thanks to Eric Elman, I have scans of the 1974 catalog with P, PA, PR and PX's, and can help you figure it out. Do you have only the frame or some components as well?

First thing to check is chrome on the rear stays. If it does not have it, then it is one of the three lower ones.

The PR was 3 main tubes 531dB. You can see mine at http://members.cox.net/kasha.lists/peugeot/peugeot.html PA was similar, but no reynolds. I think both of these had simplex drop outs on the rear (will say simplex). The P was relatively cheap, and had some frame braze on's (the others are all clamps except the very rear for the derailleur cable). The P I think had cheap drop outs as well. They say that the PA and P had bocoma lugs (They have a notch in the head tube lugs, not perfectly plain). They say the PR had Nervex lugs, but smooth ones. Some PX's had smooth Nervex lugs as well, but as far as I know, all had chrome rear stays.

Let me know if you have high a bandwidth connection and I can send you the scans tonight.

I can't find a tubing sticker but I'm pretty sure it's not 531. It does have tubulars and Stronglight alloy crankset. The bike is very original down to ALL the dealer installed reflectors. City of Palo Alto License sticker from 1972. Is this some "club racer" model like a PA-10? My sister bought a PA-10 (I think that was the model) back in '72 or '73 and that has steel cranks. Any ideas out there?
