Benelux rod shifters work okay but are really only any good when there are small differences in chainring sizes eg. 50/47 ideally about 3 or 5 teeth difference. The other problem is back ache for us oldies leaning down to change gears, I was fourteen when I last used one of these contraptions and a lot more supple.Nice looking thing to put on a period show cycle but certainly not practical if you are going to do a lot of riding. When I use to race with one of these we were forever fouling other competitors by changing there front gears for them, same thing applies to bar end levers.
