On same 77 serotta there was a #1 Pump installed. Most people had the one end blow off. Mine eventually wore out. Sew ups and the daily pumping up with no floor pump did it in. I really liked the way it gauged the preasure.
Wouldn't mind having one of those again either. This thread is really making me nostalgic for . . . well . . . plastic? Well maybe . . .
It's just that I remember the joy of being liberated from gas pipe boomers to my first serious bike. I got to pick and install the parts that I wanted.
For what its worth
>From Bike Warehouse (who gave me a 5% discount for a build kit) I ordered

Weinmann 610 center pull brakes and levers
Suntour Cyclone front der. Had the endless band and I also got the optional
cage extender. Did anyone think that was a good idea????????????
Yeach!!!!! took it off before I even took the first ride.
SR Laprade seat post
Sedis Narrow chain
SR Rando handlebars
SR New Alloy Stem
Suntour freewheel 5 speed. 13x 28 they substited 13x26 which was fine by me
too.
27x1 1/8 tires that were Japanese but I don't recall the brand. Quickly
replaced by same size but Schwinn brand
>From other sources
TA cyclotourist 52x42x32
Mafac Tool kit
White Bluemell (mispelled?) fenders with the mud flap on front.
Parts already had Shimano Crane GS Suntour Barcons Speedic Professional Seat
Still have the frame but now all campagnolo NR parts. I have really been thinking about finding an interesting italian frame to hang the campagnolo on and making the Serotta as I had it in the beginning.

> The appearance was amazing . The body was clear Lexan polycarbonate
plastic . You pulled the hose out of the handle , as if it were a really
old-style British or French pump . But the hose was permanently attached .
That was the weak point . You had to give the incredibly thin , hard
plastic , hose , a sharp pull to seat it air tight . It was usually not
air tight .
> The built in air gauge didn't work very accurately on mine , but it was
an amazing idea !
> You could actually see the synthetic neoprene O-ring , which formed
the seal on the piston of the pump . The body of the pump was crystal clear
, remember ? There were finely etched lines , with numbers next to them ,
on that crystal clear body of the pump . When you had pumped up to a fairly
high pressure , you simply let go of the handle . The piston came to rest
with the neoprene piston ring indicating a particular pressure . What a
concept !!
