There seem to be a number of different Campagnolo downtube shifter styles produced through the NR/SR era. My experience (and interest) with them begins with the late 60s models, I believe. I personally have sets mixed with the following differences: -clamp on and braze on -bumpy (with Patent & Vincenza Italy) and indented (with Patent only) lever graphics -with or without cable guides -aluminum, chromed and bare steel lever stops/cable guides -Record ring style and bladed screwdriver (both with male threads) and Gran Sport cone style (with female threads) adjusting hardware -plastic and metal "glides" (don't know the formal term) -flat or convex chromed logo stamped, and black steel (springy) unmarked outer washers
After a few CR searches with different keywords I failed to find any posts discussing this. Is there any consensus on when the different features became available and/or were phased out? I'm trying to nail down the period and quality level of each of them for future projects, distribution, etc. For example, I have two Paramounts from the 72/73 period, both equipped with shifters that are clamped on, with bumpy levers and Record looped adjusters. However, one has fully chromed lever stop/ cable guides, while the other has black steel. Are these two different models for that year, or does one of the bikes have a non date-matching set? Also, were there really models with flat head adjuster screws, or are the ones that I own and have seen, using hardware store replacements for lost originals? Are they older, "newer", or possibly both? Thanks for the help...
