I have heard rumors that somebody is badmouthing Vintage Bicycle Quarterly for containing inaccurate information. That person is not on the list... so nobody should take this personally, please.
First, articles in VBQ are referenced properly. So you can find out from which sources the information came. Of course, the sources can contradict each other, or, in the case with interviews, people's memories may be faulty. (In several cases, the footnotes in a VBQ interview pointed out these discrepancies.)
Most of all, Vintage Bicycle Quarterly does have a "Correction/Additions" section, where additional or controversial information is published. Obviously, corrections have to be referenced just like the original article. I think a lively discussion is enjoyable to all of us.
I would like to point out to the community that I accept contributions for the "Corrections/Additions" from anybody, whether they are subscribers or not. My goal is to further the cause of bicycle history.
Thus, I hope anybody who thinks something said in VBQ is wrong doesn't grumble and spread rumors, but send in a "correction!"
