Well, For those who weren't there and care to know, here are the facts:

The day started more or less as planned w/ an 8:30 am leave the apt. get go'n time toget to Balboa Park by 9:30. Good plan, but didn't get out till 8:40. Petry did me a solid by calling at 8:31 and warning my sorry over dressed ass that I WAS in southern California and it was going to be 80 degrees today. So, go back upstairs and leave the longsleave Bianchi jersey and tights home. The San Pelligrino looked sharp.
As soon as I got go'n down Prospect St., I regretted not making this trip every winter since I had last done it 15 years ago. Absolutly beautiful.
All was going good untill I missed my left turn onto Grand Ave. Cost: another 10 minits.
Back on track. Mission Ave. to Pacific Hiway. Hey they let bikes on the hiway here! Look for Laural and make the left. Hey here it is. And its only 9:40. A couple of small rises. O.K., no biggie. No. NOOOOO. "It's a ______WALL!!! It was obscurred by the hiway overpass. The 3rd block. The 3rd block of Laurel St. Its as steep as anything in San Francisco. 25% I'll bet. Oh, and I'm going on a ride after this, huh.
Afew more blocks and there's Balboa. You can see a the Spanish colonial tower from the distance. Once there then where? Where is that Space museum parking lot? "Hey Pergolizzi" What, Charles Andrews behind me in a car! Hows that for devine bike god guidance? And its only 9:45.
And their are the boys; Baylis, Gorski, Van De Velde, Peters, Sean, Petry. Damn, I'm excited! Who else? Andrews. Wheres Andrews? Well, after a little waitting, Charles shows. There was a bagle or something w/ his name on it.
We a finally a got a go'n. Through some side streets. Then down along Mission bay. And just as it was gonna be time to step on it, PINGGGGG! Gorski's very pretty Colnago decides to break a s
