I agree that there appears to be little point in the quasi spaceframe design from a structural viewpoint. Hardly detracts from its charm nevertheless. I believe Ettore was apprenticed to an Italian bicycle manufacturer early on.
And that clip-on bicycle engine makes me smile! I could use one of those at times.
Lastly, I think it was just the big toe that Ettore had seperate accomodation for in his idiosyncratic footwear. I've always wanted to try a pair of those shoes.
