One word, mon ami: Lithium. "Itsamall.com" <7440@lvcm.com> wrote:Luck is for the illprepared. I know the exact history on the bike finally and I will not post it to keep the 3`s low. Trust me not only did the bike get made in Italy but it also has a 1 week race history behind it. It is for sure a De Rosa. I saw the bullshit that lug grinder stated. I would go after a Liebel suite but he is to broke to waste time on. The only thing he has done is cause Bike weenies to fall for his bullshit. he is not the know all end all of cycling knowledge trust me. the guy thats selling the bike along with many others is friends with many of the old timers in the busiless. Phil Wood, Harlan Hi E the old Crew at Moots etc.

Maybe its a matter of you trust a bum I trust a guy that knew these people from the industry from back when they were getting in to it. This is a matter of trust. I personaly hope to receive this bike through a second purchase. I have put out a blanket offer to several bidders to purchase the bike if they win. This may shock your crew but the De rosa is not a Myth Its just another bike. Its a Pinerralo, a moots, hell a Fondise. Or in other words after you take away the hype its a bike. You have made the mistake of buying the hype. So be it I am selling the Hype and just as guilty as you and the others.

I took a few years away from the business and came back a couple years ago. It used to be OMG its a new De rosa OMG its a new Peugeot carbon. EEEWWW Kestrel made another carbon frame and look at the EMS fork and God know I was so Oh wow you have a Klein over a Cannondale.

Afetr stepping back I came back I jumped on a jamis that was a little big I borrowed from a team rider I rode it for a weekend and said wow I want a Jamis to the rider. He said sure I can hook that right up which model do you want? I said this one. he said its a curtlow ( or how ever its spelled) I said cool whats retail he said about $1,200 I was fine with that. Then he said you are not getting it are you? I told him yes you are going to walk over to the phone and order it after you fit me for it. He said No I raced jamis and I did not like their early frames Its a Curtlow. I decaled it for racing on the team. At the end of the season the next year Jamis had an aluminum all the team went to them and his curtlow became a curtlow again.

We all buy the hype. Look at Cannondale and Klien and lets make the look a little sharper take on an aluminum custom Joe Breeze and a decent Taiwanese made frame again aluminum from there. Build them the same and ride them. They are all basicly that same bike when you get down to it. Its still someones case of old beer cans recycled.

Hype is what drives this business. If hype did nt drive this business then Ferarri would nor be able to sell an average Carbon bike for $7,000 in boutiques. Klein would sell for the same as Cannondale. And Tektro brakes would sell for as much as Shimano with out having their names added by which ever company they were contracted for.

Basicly when the hype is taken away its a fun sport where lawyers, thievfes, and school kids can compete and education means nothing. Its all about who has the biggest lungs and the most fast twitch muscles.

I am sure I will hear about this. I am sure it will be reposted in the Bike weenie email group. Its fine I understand killing innocent people is not as important as people that did not have have money growing up so they do not understand the fact that companies made custom bikes to order. God knows Paramount did it. And they were as production Hell More so then most companies of this same time.

I am sure it will get talked about the fact we admit to selling the hype. So heres what you do go look in the mirror and say am I buying the hype. Well if you see De Rosa as any better then a Olmo then trust me you are. I have ridden both and yes they are nice but Hell I am sure they shared the same brazers since look at Giant. They make over 3 million bikes a year now and most do not say Giant but we all say i would rather have a Schwinn over a Giant or a Nishiki But all 3 are the same just differnt Decals.

Thanks, Neal

> snip: "Due to a Jerk in San Diego named Brian Bayles from Masi we had to take these extra pics to show that no named no information having bike weenie that not only is this a De Rosa but also he should not be shooting his mouth off about Ebay, Ebay dealers and De Rosa in general since he has no clue what he is talking about."
>
> Ummm, at the risk of suffering your cyber wrath, I must say that it is neither appropriate nor accurate to say that Brian is a jerk or that he "has no clue what he is talking about." Serious players in the bike business know who Brian is and know that he is extremely knowledgeable, particularly regarding matters of hand-built steel frames and especially those from companies like DeRosa, Masi, Colnago... Being reasonably well informed on Italian race bikes myself, I would concur with Brian's assessment. This bike looks nothing like a DeRosa. Engraving on the crown and caps does nothing to change my opinion on this. I have no idea why anyone would take the trouble to engrave frame parts in this way, other than to deceive. I am NOT suggesting that you had any part of this deception, but rather that you have been mislead. On the other hand, this frame may be some sort of licensed model that DeRosa had fabricated by an outside contractor, much as Masi and other makers have!
> done. Still, I'd be very surprised if this were the case. To my knowledge, all Deroas, even the new Ti and Aluminum models are build in the Derosa facility.
