Mark,
Holy smokes, Peter! Those are just plain SEXY! I'm going with the Vargas girl impression. Does anyone have any questions now why people do this with their talent? Peter must feel that special feeling a framebuilder gets when the final results of the project far exceed ones' expectations. The customer is just plain lucky. Peter must feel a tremendous amount of satisfaction being able to express his visions in steel and paint like this. Honestly, only Peter REALLY knows how totally cool this frame is. Only he knows every intimate detail of it's construction.
The owner will get to own and ride it. It's purpose will be validated. Most of the purpose of the bike has been served for Peter during construction. Like a successful and mature child, the frame will periodically pay dividends to Peter in the form of the owners compliments to Peter for building such a ridable and beautiful bike. Future generations will also recognize the hand of the maker in this bike for generations to come. The work of a "Master Framebuilder". And it is NOT me speaking.....the frame speaks for ITSELF!
The Peter Mooney gallery was delightful also. Crafstmanship is not dead! (It just smells funny) Sorry, couldn't resist. But Peter is cutting some beautiful, tasteful, and creative designs. One of the beautiful things about framebuilding (the old way) is even though millions of frames have been built, there are still millions more ways to make lugged or fillet brazed frames of distinction and function. The possibilities are endless. Even extremely simple treatments and designs are available to explore. Lugs don't have to be fancy to be beautiful or artistic. It's in the curves. Peter Weigle just demonstrated that, AND HOW!
These guys could make a commercial for the PGA. "These guys are good!" Thank you guys for putting up the pics and links.
Brian Baylis La Mesa, CA These guys even make a clutz like me want to build frames! Jeepers!
