Thought this might be of interest whilst looking through some old copies of Cycling came across theses two items. Cycling May 11th. 1922 English Gears Wins Abroad In the big trials for variable-geared bicycles, organised by the Touring Club de France, a striking success was scored by the BSA three-speed hub. The first, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh place were won on bicycles equipped with this famous hub. The winner, Canteloube who rode an Alleluia bicycle, is a well known French roadman who may be seen in England this year for the World's Championship. the special team prize was naturally won by the BSA-Alleluia riders. Cycling November 16th. 1928 New BSA Fittings. An example of "how to do it" in this matter was shown by the BSA Co., who have made exhaustive tests with duralumin, and as a result have marketed their Super Speed model, in which the hub shells, cranks, chain-wheel and saddle-pin are of this interesting metal. The weight saved is not sensational, about 1.5lb. altogether, but it is nearly all moving weight and the duralumin parts are of BSA manufacture and carry that company's guarantee and reputation. This model can also be obtained with ordinary steel parts if preferred.
