It wasn't even invented in Atlanta... Dr. John Pemberton was born in Knoxville, moved to Columbus, GA. in 1853 and invented Coca Cola here. He began selling it to Atlanta drug stores in 1866 and moved to Atlanta himself in 1870. But come to Columbus if you want to see his home, his first lab, and his grave. As well as some mighty fine bike paths along the Chatahoochee River on which to ride vintage bicycles (whew, just managed to squeeze that one in...)
