Hey buddy,

Thanks for heading up the effort today, it was fantastic. Not to get sappy or anything but I really like all the people we ride with, they are just so cool and nice. The bicycles are cool too but not as cool as the people.

Take care...see you soon at Jan's event...oh yeah I think they call it Veloswap or something like that!

Guy

Hi Group:

It was a very warm day in Northern California. At some point in time the temperature was up to the high 80s or the low 90s. We had a bigger than usual group of around a dozen or so people showing up plus Jim McCoin, side-lined with a knee injury come to say hi and look at the bikes assembled at the start. I don't believe anyone waited for an hour so everyone had the clock set right. The great news was Bob Freitas came and rode with us (not sure if he had the doctor's or his wife's approval) and only exceeded the red-line once (on his heart monitor) and not having to use any nitrous.

As usual a diverse and interesting group of bikes were assembled. These included two Cinellis, both silver, of course; a Hetchins Magnum Opus and a Medici. Three Masi of the "correct vintage" (pre-early 70s) were present. One beautifully restored by Brian Baylis, one recent restoration by Ed Litton and one with the "drilled everything" special touches by Peter Johnson. There were two custom bikes. A Peter Johnson ridden by Jan Johnson and a Phil Brown with Hetchins-like curly stays ridden by Phil Brown. Oh, and there was also a Schwinn Paramount and a Gitane Tour de France. Sorry, Bob, I was so happy to see you there that I forgot what you were riding. And yes, we did manage to go for a ride after admiring each others bikes for the longest time at the parking lot.

Next ride.......Jan is planning something for the day after the Velo Swap. That would be Sunday, November 16th. We are hoping we will see some of you out-of-towners.

Respectfully,
