Subject: [CR]Re: advice on F W Evans rebuild

I was fortunate to acquire an F W Evans touring frame in an E-bay transaction this summer. Being 6'5" it is unusual to find frames that fit me. I've corresponded with several list members about what sort of equipment to use in building it up, and now I'd like to solicit further advice before beginning the project...no more evening rides here in semi-rural KY will give me some time to work on it. Here are my thoughts so far... The frame was built in 1965.There is a picture of the frame on the Bike Brothers website. I have found: Mafac canti brakes, hangars and levers; Brooks B-17; GB spearpoint stem; TA Cyclotourist BB and 75mm arms; several choices of chainrings from 52,48,46,30; spindles for either double or triple chainrings; Simplex front changer that will shift a triple if I decide to set it up that way;Simplex Red plastic nameplate rear derailleur or a Campy NR ('73); Bluemel fenders; Campy NR shifters(it has downtube bosses). I'm not sure about: the wheels, though I have several sets of 700 should I use 27"; the handlebars...I prefer 46" but that seems to have been an unusual size then...could tandem specific bars have been wide enough to have been used then; the Simplex would need an adaptor of some sort to fit the derailleur hanger , which looks to be Campy-compatible. Rear rack? I would like to stay away from Japanese components. Thanks!
