Odd thing, it looks like some of the old bikes were not the top models of the era, but lesser ones. Probably the modern pros don't know the diffference.

> For those who get the US version of the British glossy race mag CYCLE SPORT, the most recent issue has a great Retro Bikes feature. In the spirit of looking back over the last year celebrating the 100th anniversary of the TdF, the editors had 4 current French cycling Pros take 4 various retro racing bikes out for a test ride (from 4 separate decades I believe) and record their impressions. It's quite fascinating and a bit humorous to see these guys (Laurent Brochard, Sylvian Chavenel, etc) fully decked out in modern team kit riding a 50 year old Automoto or 60's era Mercier. Very cool.
