...........Jerry, in answer to what equipment should you fit to your new '61 Hetchins Brilliant then my opinion for what it's worth would be GB alloy bars/spearpoint stem and GB Sport Mk.3 brakes, Cyclo Benelux rear derailleur, Williams C34 steel cottered chainset, 32/40 Airlite hubs laced to alloy 27x1.1/4" clincher rims, Bluemels guards and of course a Brooks saddle. All of these components are relatively easy to find through the British members on the CR List and not that expensive to buy, they would also be in keeping with the period whilst at the same time retaining that typically British feel and look of the cycle. On the other hand there's no denying that Hetchins Curly's are an eye catcher and if budget allows (plus increase its exotic charm) then Campag.Gran Sport rear mech./Gran Sport large flange hubs, Cinelli steel stem, Stronglight steel Competition cranks and TA alloy single ring plus Mafac centre pulls would do it for me! good luck and post pictures to Dale when you do get it finished............. regards Griff King-Spooner (London UK)
