Tires glued on with the Tufo tubular tape are very difficult to remove. For training purposes, whether I'm using glue or the tape, I leave an inch opposite the valve stem free of tape or glue. I then carry a plastic tire iron and use that to get the tire removal process started.
The tape is nice and clean and easy to install. I would think on a show bike or bike that isn't going to be ridden hard, you could just use a few strips of the tape and this would be sufficient to prevent the tire from being rolled.
There is now some Tufo Extreme Tape I haven't tried it but it is a whole different system. It's real purpose is for cyclocross use in low temperatures and mountain descents in hot weather.
